We introduced digital cameras into our wedding workflow in 2002 and as customers became more and more comfortable with the concept of digital capture--and as digital cameras became more and more sophisticated, our workflow gradually migrated from mostly film to mostly digital. Finally in 2007, convinced that digital is far superior to film, we eliminated film altogether and became fully-digital for weddings. There is no question in our minds that digital better serves our clients' needs and allows us to produce a superior product faster and often more economically. My base wedding package (up to ten hours of my time plus the help of a shooting assistant) is all digital and it can be expanded with the addition of extra products (parent albums, custom enlargements, the purchase of your digital "negatives.") The package includes up to 200 miles of round-trip travel from my base in Brunswick. That means there is no extra charge for travel to weddings in The Blue Hill Peninsula, the Camden-Rockport-Rockland area, the Boothbay Harbor Region, the Greater Portland area, the Southern Maine Coast including Kennebunkport and York or the Western Mountains Region of Maine, which includes Bethel. The base package is discounted by $500 in the off-season (November to April). A signed wedding contract with a $1500 retainer reserves your date. One-half of the remaining estimated balance is due one month prior to the wedding, and I will bill you for the balance when I post your proofs online. Sales delivered in Maine require a 5% sales tax. A contract, which is signed on booking, outlines these and other terms.
Base Package: Digital Capture & a Purchase Credit that can be used for a Custom-Designed Queensberry Feature Album ($4500): We don't include an album per se in each package; instead we include a "purchase credit" which you can use as you wish; in other words, you custom-design your own package to meet your own needs. You can use your credit to purchase albums, your high resolution digital files, a selection of prints to put together your own wedding album or parents' albums, and enlargements suitable for framing and gift-giving. The purchase credit is yours to spend as you see fit, and we are constantly adding new products to our lines, giving you more choices for how to spend your credit. The wedding day will be captured on digital media. We will delete"outtakes" e.g., a frame where eyes were closed, a flash didn't go off, someone walked in front of the camera when the photographer was shooting, etc., and duplicates of other frames, before posting the online gallery, but even with the editing you should expect to see 700-1000 photos in the online gallery which you can share with family and friends. You will also receive a CD of the gallery for viewing the gallery offline (useful for sharing with family and friends who do not have high-speed access). Friends and family members who want prints of their own can use the online gallery to order. Our most popular album product is the Queensberry feature album, and because so many couples choose Queensberry for their album, we have tied the purchase credit to the price of a twenty-page Queensberry 12x12 album. We guarantee that if you if you place your album order within six months of your wedding, your $2000 purchase credit will purchase a twenty-page Queensberry & Co. 12x12 feature wedding album, even if the price of that album has gone up since you booked your package. Extra pages for 12 x 12 Queensberry albums are available at $125 per "leaf" (a leaf has two "sides" or pages.) Upgrade covers (wood, metal and photo) are also available as are larger albums, (e.g. 15 x 15 albums.) (My suppliers' prices are subject to change, so
I cannot guarantee prices indefinitely. If you are not able to place your
album order within six months you may still purchase an album, but your
order will be subject to the prices in effect on the date you place your
order, which could exceed $2000.) You can purchase your "digital negatives" (your high-resolution original digital captures) burned to DVD for $600. (If you choose not to do so, I retain them for three years and allow you, your friends and your families to order reprints and enlargements. I will do my best to safeguard them from fire or other disaster.) At the end of three years you may choose to purchase your digital negatives burned to DVD for a discounted price of $200. If you do not purchase your digital negatives by the end of three years, they are subject to being purged from our storage systems, so we ask you to use due diligence if you want your digital negatives. If you are having a large wedding (more than 150 guests) and want an extensive number of candid shots of guests, or if you want a large number of posed shots but don't want to give up the photojournalistic portion of the coverage, you might consider having us add an additional shooting assistant to your team (for a three-person photography team), which will allow us to add to our coverage. We would be glad to give you a special quote for that service. Parents' albums can be purchased (either exact copies of your album at a reduced price or unique albums designed just for them.) If you have activities which should last longer than ten hours or if you have additional parties leading up to or following the wedding day, I can customize a quote to take in extra events. If you have specific needs which are not addressed in this information, please bring them to my attention. I often have access to items and services not specifically mentioned on the web site. Please be aware that any purchase credit not used within eighteen (18) months of the wedding date is forfeited. It becomes a bookkeeping challenge for a photographer to keep up with credits for an extended period of time. Most couples purchase reprints in the first six months after their weddings, so the eighteen-month limit should not be a hardship, Thank-you for your understanding.
I enjoy travel and always welcome the opportunity to work at new venues throughout the state of Maine and beyond. I use MapQuest to calculate the mileage, and the first 200 miles of round-trip travel are included at no additional charge. When round-trip travel exceeds 200 miles, the excess miles are charged at 60¢ per mile. Please ask for a custom estimate on the travel expenses for weddings outside of Maine. For out-of-town weddings, add the actual cost of lodging for the night of the rehearsal, which allows me to stay over after attending your rehearsal. Lodging for the wedding night is also advisable if your reception is ending so late that I cannot return home before midnight. While it is fun to stay where most of your guests are staying, I realize that couples' budgets are limited and am happy to stay at budget accommodations in the area. |
